Welcome to Madeleine’s Musings! I’m so glad you’re here.
As a singer/songwriter and music journalist, I listen to lots of music and I have lots of opinions. While I love writing content for publications, I wanted to have a place where I could write about my favorite music and express my views, while also giving an inside look into my original music.
I’ve released music since 2020. My 2021 EP Songs About Me is an alternative folk project exploring the concept of home. The songs are reflective, internal, and gently sung. They describe my struggles with mental health, isolation, and eventual healing. Written by a 16 year-old version of me, Songs About Me is a time capsule that I’m still incredibly proud of.
In 2023, I branched into alternative-rock territory through the release of my album All I Had To Do. All I Had To Do is an exploration of heartbreak and reconciliation. Each song represents a different emotion and a phase in the grieving process. In my life, writing has been an essential method for me to express myself and build resilience amid life’s difficulties. I often have to go through a creative process to fully move on from something. At the time All I Had To Do was written, I was grappling with anxiety, betrayal from people I’d trusted, and the growing pains of early adulthood. I’d never made the conscious decision to write an album. Rather, the album begged to be born. I ended up with a collection of seven songs that vividly captured my feelings and experiences.
I’m grateful to have a place where I can reveal the heart behind these songs. And share my thoughts on music in general, one of my greatest sources of inspiration. It would be an honor for you to follow along!
